Mortenson has started the construction of a 86-MW solar facility for Silicon Ranch Corporation in Southeast Georgia. Silicon Ranch will be offering the renewable power that it generates from the new facility at a cost-competitive rate to the Green Power EMC, which is essentially a renewable energy supplier for about 38 of Georgia Electric Membership Corporations (EMCs) all across the state, once it finishes the project.

Apparently, Mortenson is responsible for the procurement, design, development, commissioning, and even the handing over of the facility. Silicon Ranch will be funding the installation while owning as well as operating the array for the long term, which is an approach that the firm takes with the projects it builds across the country.

Vice President and General Manager, Solar & Emerging Renewables Group at Mortenson, Trent Mostaert, said that the company has been looking forward to working with Silicon Ranch in Georgia for the Snipesville solar project and is capable of providing renewable energy to the network of Green Power EMC in the state. It is a significant opportunity for all the individuals within the area who have experience or even the ones who have been looking for new skills to learn, regarding the building of solar or even help in securing sustainable energy future.

The scope of the project involves foundations, modules, electrical collection systems, the balance of systems hardware, civil, racking, and inverters. The construction is in the process and is anticipated to be finished by year-end. Mortenson has been seeking to hire over 275 members for the team mostly from local areas that include electricians, foremen, inventory specialists, installers, mechanics, operators, safety professionals, carpenters and general laborers, among many others.

The company will also offer all the local workers with training on the site in tracker assembly, panel installation and pile driving. The residents of the area who are interested in working on the project can learn more by having visited the official site of the company.
