TikTok apparently to consider London as its global headquarters

Video sharing service TikTok is apparently under heavy scrutiny in Washington, on account of suspicions that China is likely to force the firm to turn over user data. For the uninitiated, TikTok is a video sharing, social networking service owned by Chinese internet technology company ByteDance.

If sources are to be believed, TikTok has been in talks with the government of the United Kingdpm since the last few months, in order to locate its headquarters in the capital city of London. It is being speculated that these discussions are being undertaken as a part of the firm’s strategy to continue distancing itself from its Chinese ownership.

While London is one of many locations that the company has been considering, no firm decisions have been made yet, claim sources. However, no accurate information is available with regards to what other locations the company seems to have placed under consideration. It is to be noted though, that TikTok has undertaken an aggressive hiring campaign in California this year, inclusive of badgering the U.S. based Kevin Mayer, who earlier worked with Walt Disney as a Co executive. Apparently, the firm has been poaching Mayer, to be TikTok’s chief executive officer.

As per sources familiar with the knowledge of the matter, the company presently, is completely focused on its issues simmering in the United States since the last few weeks, however, it has not ruled out London to be a potential place for its new headquarters. TikTok is anticipated to substantially increase the percentage of its hired hands in London as well as other important locations outside of China, spanning the upcoming years.

Another source however, reported that the video sharing company has seemingly broken off discussions with the UK government pertaining to establishing global headquarters in Britain.

Yet another source opined that Tiktok is still in the midst of talks with the UK government. The ByteDance owned company however, has refused to comment on the ongoing subject of discussion.
