Conquer COVID-19 announces $1M donation from Tobi Lütke & Fiona McKean

Conquer COVID-19 has recently announced the donation of $1 million by Tobi Lütke and Fiona McKean through their Thistledown Foundation.

Conquer COVID-19 is a grassroots incubator that provides access to the priority healthcare products. The grassroots incubator was recently formed to exclusively focus on distribution and donation of PPE such as gowns, face shields, gloves, and masks, in addition to other supplies for healthcare workers including baby monitors. It has recently distributed 20,000 PPE to healthcare workers in Canada.

The recent announcement comes along the heels of the organization’s declaration to accept monetary donations through its established partnership with IDRF (International Development & Relief Foundation). It will receive all the donations via its dedicated page on the website of IDRF.

According to Fiona McKean, Chair and Founder of Thistledown Foundation, Conquer COVID-19 has been working to ensure that the frontline workers in Canada have greater access to the healthcare supplies such as masks and gloves. She also expressed her appreciation of the Canada government for taking up necessary steps to accelerate the effort to fight against the deadly virus and conquer the pandemic.

The volunteer-driven organization has formed a partnership with IDRF to cater to the rapidly rising requests from individuals and corporations to donate funds and support the purchase of various PPE. IDRF charity is an established nonprofit, which is set up to accept the monetary donations & issue tax receipts and has impacted the lives of nearly 600,000 Canadians as well as other populations across the globe. All the donations for Conquer COVID-19 will be effectively managed by this charity, which will be allocated for purchasing PPE and other critical supplies with no administration fee. Any unused funds post the pandemic will be donated to a foundation or hospital, which will be determined in collaboration with IDRF, Conquer COVID-19 and its supporters including Ryan Reynolds and Hayley Wickenheiser.
